How I Stick to Workouts Through the Holidays

Stick to Workouts Through the Holidays

For the last few years, I have been able to stick to my workouts through the holidays. I intend to do the same thing this year. This isn’t always easy. As someone who loves exercising, I do have an advantage. Still, even for me, there is always the risk of skipping one…or several.

Why This Time of Year is Hard on an Exercise Routine

This time of year can get overwhelming. There’s a lot going on all at once, and none of it can wait. It’s draining and sucks the motivation out of us. What I find is that the more I keep up my workouts through the holidays, the better I feel. It’s one of those parts of life where you feel like you’re dragging yourself to do something but enjoy it every time. During December, I never want to work out, and I’m happy every time I do it!

How I Keep Up My Workouts Through the Holidays Regardless

I have a few tips and tricks to keep up my workouts through the holidays so that they’re just a regular part of my day, no matter what else is going on.  Check these out and see how many you can use to make sure you keep up your exercises and all the benefits that come with them, even while you’re trying to get all your shopping, prepping and decorating done.

Here’s How I Do It

·      Get a buddy

My fiancé, Bree, has been my top motivator for a long time. She has to come first in this list. She’s the reason I stick to workouts through the holidays or any other time of the year. Find someone you trust to share workouts with or to help to push you to get up and do your exercises yourself. When you’re partnered up with someone to exercise with, it’s more fun, the time goes faster, and you’re a lot more likely to do it in the first place.

·      Have a plan

I don’t mean that you need to make some kind of complicated plan with a ton of research. Just decide when you’re going to exercise, what you’ll do and write it on your calendar. Then, stick to it. Take it seriously.

·      Get it over with early

I find that when I’m busiest, I keep up my workouts through the holidays best when I make my exercises the first thing I do in the day. I get up, get it done, then start my day. That way, there’s no way for my day to get so full that I can’t do my workout. I also can’t use the excuse that my day was so long that I was too tired at the end of it to exercise. It’s done. It’s over with.  Moving on.

·      Find fitness supplements with energy

When you just don’t have it in you at this time of year to pour yourself into your maximum fat burning workout performance, fitness supplements can help power you up.
