I’ve decided to get started with an 8 week weight loss plan to clean up the extra pounds I’ve gained since the start of the year. I’ve let a few of my good habits slide over the months as my gym had to shut its doors during the lockdown and as I had to adjust my shopping and eating habits to the pandemic ecosystem.
Pounds Slowly Climbing On
For a while, I thought I wasn’t among the millions of us across the country who were gaining body fat because of all the lifestyle changes. It was a slow climb that I shrugged off as just a pound or two – or even water weight – at the start. But now that it’s been around half a year, I can see that this isn’t just a bit of extra sodium making my tissues retain water. I’ve been gradually working my way to being a lovable chonk.
Since it looks like this is going to be the way things are for at least a few more months, I can’t let myself continue this way. I created an 8 week weight loss plan for myself to get myself headed in the right direction again. This is not a two month diet plan. I won’t be stopping after I’m done. The strategy is just to put me on the right track so I can slip back into my good habits.
Creating an 8 Week Weight Loss Plan in a Pandemic
My 8 week weight loss plan doesn’t have anything to do with extremes. If you’ve been following me for a while, you know that’s not what I’m about anyway. Still, I needed to put down some rules to stop things from getting worse. I’ve already started my strategy, and the goal is to rebuild my old habits but in a new environment.
I can’t go to my gym – and even when it opens, I won’t be ready to head in right away – but that doesn’t mean I can’t do my workouts. I’m back to doing runs to get my cardio back on track. I can’t use the machines I’m used to but, I’ve started focusing on more bodyweight training that lets me use my own bodyweight for strength training. It doesn’t need very much – if any – equipment. I can do a lot of the exercises in my living room. Sometimes I support them with a resistance band, but it isn’t always necessary. I’m definitely using a set of hand weights. That makes it more convenient. It’s still possible to do moves without any equipment at all.
I’ll keep adapting my 8 week weight loss plan as I continue doing it. That way, I will be able to adjust it to focus on what’s working and fix what isn’t.
